A war veteran, Joshua Corcran served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and received various commendations and achievement medals in recognition of his service to the country. He is currently studying dentistry at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine. During his free time, Joshua Corcran enjoys road cycling to different places in Nevada.
One popular road cycling destination in Nevada is the River Mountains Loop Trail. It is a 34-mile loop trail that is 12 feet wide, paved, non-motorized trail intended for road bikes and walking. The trail has an elevation gain of more than 1,300 feet. Encircling the River Mountains, the trail snakes through Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Hoover Dam, Henderson, Boulder City, and the remainder of the Las Vegas Valley.
Cyclists can experience breathtaking views and a variety of wildlife, as well as soak in the captivating beauty of the Mojave Desert. Completed in 2012, the trail is the first project of its kind in Nevada involving a diverse range of stakeholders. The original partners included federal agencies, local governments, regional agencies, corporations, and local businesses.
